Eight Strategies to Help You with Your Personal Brand

On days when I’m not directly engaged in revenue-generating projects or tending to other pressing business, I try to visit a networking group and/or attend an interesting local seminars or workshops.  Most metropolitan areas advertise these events and in today’s economy there are quite a number of groups that gather for similar purposes.

The 40 Plus DC group serves as just such a place where professionals navigating a career transition gather together to polish up their resume, share business intelligence, and/or check in with their “mastermind group.”  Here’s a graphic record of the most recent Monday morning seminar held in DC.  So for those who couldn’t attend or for others looking to connect with a personal branding expert, check out Jennifer Ransaw Smith’s website.

In the late 1990s Tom Peters wrote about the importance of managing “The Brand You.” Today it seems even more important to transform yourself from an ’employee’ into a brand that shouts distinction, commitment, and passion.

If you follow her advice, who knows?  You may become a star!  If you opt to sit and do nothing about establishing or managing your personal brand, then there’s a good chance your star may flicker or (worse yet) burn out.
